Your guide to building a sustainable healthy lifestyle
I’m so glad you’re here! With each blog post you will receive easily digestible tips regarding fitness, exercise, nutrition, meal prep, and much more!
A healthy lifestyle that produces lasting results is 100% possible, and my goal is to show you how you can achieve just that…it’s probably simpler than you think. I’m here to teach you that wellness doesn’t have to be complicated or boring. You can be excited about moving and fueling your body in ways that are sustainable for your unique journey.
So let’s dive in! Today’s topic is consistent workouts. If this is a challenge for you, you’re not alone. One of the most common complaints I hear from clients is that they struggle to keep a consistent workout routine because they lack motivation. If you’re relying on motivation, STOP. Motivation is a feeling that rarely presents itself when we need to exercise, especially if you are new to working out. Instead, work towards commitment to fuel your consistency. In other words, choose in advance that you are going to stick with your plan, and then do it!
So how do you make a plan and follow through?
- Schedule your workouts – Plan in advance what days and times you are going to work out, and don’t schedule other things during those times.
- Check off your calendar when done – A lot of people find this very satisfying. If you’re one of those folks who feels a sense of accomplishment when checking off a completed task, use that to help you stay consistent.
- Plan what you’re going to do – Figure out ahead of time what type of workout you will do. When the time comes, you’ll be prepared and won’t spend any of that dedicated workout time planning.
- Find a workout buddy/accountability partner – Many people find that having someone counting on them to workout helps them stay on track.
- Hire a trainer – If money is invested, we as humans are more likely to follow through. A trainer can be a great way to jump start your workout routine and provide accountability.
- Reward yourself at the end of each week – Set a goal (example: workout three days this week) and then reward yourself once you reach it. Rewards come in all shapes and sizes, but maybe you treat yourself to coffee with a friend (or yourself!), some pampering, a bubble bath, new houseplant, etc. It can be whatever you want, just make sure that it doesn’t contradict or hinder your goals.
Now that you have a few ideas to help you stay consistent, I have a little challenge for you! I am including a 30 minute body weight workout that can be done anywhere anytime. I challenge you to plan when you’re going to do it, and then DO IT! Invite a friend to join you or plan to reward yourself once complete. When you’re ready to work out, click HERE to get started!
