Your guide to building a sustainable healthy lifestyle

I’m so glad you’re here! With each newsletter you will receive easily digestible tips regarding fitness, exercise, nutrition, meal prep, and much more!

A healthy lifestyle that produces lasting results is 100% possible, and my goal is to show you how you can achieve just that…it’s probably simpler than you think. I’m here to teach you that wellness doesn’t have to be complicated or boring. You can be excited about moving and fueling your body in ways that are sustainable for your unique journey.

So let’s dive in! Today’s topic is how to think yourself healthy. The mind is a powerful thing. The way we think determines the way we act. Since behavior change starts in the mind, let’s review a few mindsets that support healthy living.

  • Food = Fuel – Changing the way we think about food will change the food we eat. Many of us choose foods because we like the way they taste or because they make us feel happy. While it’s OK to eat for those reasons at times, the more we can shift our focus from which foods make us feel good emotionally to which foods will fuel our bodies and support our goals, the healthier our diets will become.
  • Self Care does NOT equal “self treat” – Redefine self-care. Taking care of yourself is not treating yourself. Those are two different things. True self-care is doing things that will take care of you (present and future) : prepping healthy meals, moving your body, going to therapy, etc. There are times when you should treat yourself, but be careful that your “self treats” don’t detract from self-care.
  • Exercise is a gift – Most people view gifts as a good thing. But sadly, so many see exercise as a punishment for unhealthy choices. If we can view the ability to move our bodies as the gift that it is, and if we can recognize the benefits that come from consistency, we’ll be more inclined to participate in regular exercise.
  • Rest is necessary – Rest is so underrated and often viewed as optional. However, it is vital to living a healthy lifestyle. Our bodies are not meant to go 24/7. Running on fumes is not sustainable. It is during rest that our bodies and minds recover and get stronger.

While there are many valuable mindsets to take regarding healthy living, these are just a few to get you started. I encourage you to pick just one to incorporate at a time. The mind may be small, but it is powerful. If you want to change the way you live, start by changing the way you think!
